Agenda for CV Executive meeting
0Great work to the CV executive for getting their meeting agenda online so promptly. This is a good first step towards improving communication with the clubs.
President’s bulletin from Leonid Sandler
0The 29th of November 2009 was the date for the Annual General Meeting of Chess Victoria. For the first time in many years there was a contest for positions on the Executive. A healthy sign that chess is growing in a number of areas, and that there are volunteers who are prepared to get involved to improve the running of chess in our State.
New CV executive members
0Following the meeting with Club Presidents, work has continued on recruiting to fill various positions to accomplish the priorities set at the meeting.
An Executive vote has confirmed the appointment of Sonia Masini as CV Secretary. Sonia is currently working as the HR Manager for Premier and Cabinet, and has happily agreed to take on the position of CV secretary. Sonia was one of the volunteers that worked very hard all day collecting money alongside those attending during the CV bush-fire appeal.
Since the February CV AGM, the CV Executive has been joined by:
Vic Kildisas, President of the Elwood Chess Club, and
Gary Bekker, well-known as President of the Oceania Region for FIDE, and himself an international arbiter.
These three join the President Katrin Wills (holder of World Championship titles in Girls chess events), and Vice-President Leonid Sandler (International Master), and other specialist position holders for Chess Victoria.
